====== Raman Lidar ====== {{:joyce_raman_lidar.jpg?direct&600|JOYCE-Raman lidar ©M. Müller}} \\ //Raman lidar at JOYCE// ===== Principle ===== The Raymetrics Raman lidar can provide continuous (24/7) profiles of temperature, water vapor, backscatter coefficient and extinction (unattended, day and night). It sends out laser pulses at 355 nm and has several detectors for elastic and inelastic signals, as well as depolarization. The system can measure the following parameters: * Atmospheric temperature profile * Water vapor mixing ratio profile * Aerosol extinction, backscatter * Depolarization coefficient profiles ===== Data ===== * Current observations in [[https://atmos.meteo.uni-koeln.de/~hatpro/dataBrowser/dataBrowser2.html?site=JOYCE&date=-1&UpperLeft=Raman_Lidar_355_RCS&UpperRight=Raman_Lidar_Water_Vapor|quicklook browser]] ===== History ==== ^ Period ^ Place ^ | July 2024 - today | Jülich | ===== Specifications ===== ^ Parameter ^ Unit ^ Value ^ |Emission wavelength|nm|355| |Rotational Raman Channels for Temperature detection|nm|355| |Telescope diameter (monoaxial design)|mm|400| |Elastic Backscatter channel|nm|355| |Depolarization Channel|nm|355| |Effective range (day)|km|0,4 - 4,0| |Effective range (night)|km|0,4 - 20| |Spatial resolution (user adjustable)|m|60 - 900| |Temporal resolution (30 min standart)|min|10 - 90| |Laser repetition rate|Hz|10| |Laser energy|mJ|200| |Laser type||ND:YAG| |Water Vapor profiles||Dusk to dawn measurements 408nm & 387nm channel| |Humidity||Typical accuracy 5%.
