OTT Pluvio 2 L at AWIPEV Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard, next to the atmospheric observatory.
Measurement principle
The OTT Pluvio 2 L is a precipitation gauge basing on a weighing measurement principle. It detects both liquid and solid precipitation by weighing the bucket content. The following values are recorded:
- intensity
- accumulated intensity
- bucket filling level
- temperature load cell
The instrument is equipped with a orifice rim heater to prevent accumulation of snow and ice on the orifice rim.
