Raman Lidar

JOYCE-Raman lidar ©M. Müller
Raman lidar at JOYCE

Principle

The Raymetrics Raman lidar can provide continuous (24/7) profiles of temperature, water vapor, backscatter coefficient and extinction (unattended, day and night). It sends out laser pulses at 355 nm and has several detectors for elastic and inelastic signals, as well as depolarization.

The system can measure the following parameters:

  • Atmospheric temperature profile
  • Water vapor mixing ratio profile
  • Aerosol extinction, backscatter
  • Depolarization coefficient profiles
